Why ecoSIP?

Today’s consumers don’t want to pay for shipping or packaging. We realised the world needed a leap forward in packaging technology for single serve wine.

To do this, we had to come up with new materials, machinery and processes to safely protect the wine.

ecoSIP is the result of three years of development work, led by Cambridge University-educated engineer and winemaker, Alex Taylor and IWSC Emerging Talent in Wine 2021, Jamie Smith (CSW, Certified Sommelier, WSET Educator). We believe ecoSIP is a huge advance over glass containers, whichever way you compare it.

It delivers huge practical advantages for getting wine samples into the hands of more customers so they can experience them.

Durability

Our Flexible Aluminium ecoSIP film can deform without breaking, so there is a much lower rate of damage than glass.

There’s also less packaging required to protect them!

Weight & Carbon Footprint

Weighing as little as 2.5g (0.1 oz), ecoSIP packs can be as much as 70x lighter than glass containers!

The eCO2 savings are even higher. Compared to glass, ecoSIP packs emit up to 1000x less manufacturing CO2.

Transportation

A complete tasting pack for 6 x 100ml samples weighs less than 150 grams (5.3 oz): 10x lighter than glass bottles & their packaging.

They also are ~3.5x smaller, so more fit on each delivery vehicle, leading to signficant savings in costs & shipping emissions.

Wine Protection

Aluminium has one of the strongest oxygen barriers, and there’s no cap or cork to act as a weak point. Our process happens in an inert, clean room environment, giving incredible protection to the wine.

Lowest Cost

Glass is an expensive material and bottles are slow to sterilise and fill.

ecoSIP packages can be produced by a single production line at a rate of up to 6 million samples per month.

Fully-Customisable

You can make ecoSIP packs completely your own, from the Aluminium film to the cartons, and outer boxes, with full colour printing; even with gloss varnish and foils.

We can even make full custom packaging to fit your requirements.
